In practice

Agriculture ERP for Qatari farms, greenhouses and agri-traders

Agriculture in Qatar runs on seasons, water and labour, and the ERP has to respect all three. Crop cycles are projects with costs that accrue over months before revenue; livestock and poultry have batches with feed, medicine and mortality; greenhouses have inputs by cycle; and the output is sold through wholesale markets, retailers and exports with grading, packaging and cold chain. Standard ERP with a standard chart of accounts does not fit without configuration.

We implement on Odoo and ERPNext, using analytic accounts and manufacturing orders to model crop and livestock cycles, lots for harvest batches with traceability, quality checks for grading, and warehouses for cold storage with expiry. Purchasing covers seed, fertiliser, feed and equipment with landed cost for imports; HR covers seasonal labour with GRSIA and WPS where applicable. Sales run through price lists by channel and van sales for distribution.

Reporting answers the questions farm managers ask: cost per hectare or per batch, yield against plan, water and input consumption, margin by crop and channel, and stock ageing in the cold store. Data can be hosted inside Qatar, and field staff use mobile apps in Arabic.
