Right-sized, not scaled down

Small businesses get pitched either a platform built for a group ten times their size, or a tool they will outgrow in eighteen months. Both are avoidable with a clear first phase.

Start with finance plus one process

Finance always, then the single operational area costing you most. That is a phase you can finish.

Buy for eighteen months, not five years

Structure for the business you will realistically be, not the one in the pitch deck.

Keep customisation minimal early

Every custom requirement is a build, a test and an upgrade consideration.

Get the structure right first

Multi-branch structure, approval workflows and Arabic support are expensive to retrofit; extra modules are cheap to add.

What to prioritise, and what can wait

Ordered by what actually costs more to add later.

Capability Priority Cost of adding late
Multi-branch structure Early High
Arabic and English Early High
Audit trail Early Cannot be added retrospectively
Approval workflows Early Medium
Inventory depth If you hold stock Medium
HR and payroll Can wait Low
Projects and timesheets Can wait Low
Advanced analytics Can wait Low

ERP for small businesses in Qatar without the enterprise price

A Qatar business with ten to fifty staff does not need an enterprise ERP programme. It needs invoices that comply with e-invoicing, a VAT return that comes from the ledger, stock that matches the shelf, customers followed up, and payroll that produces the WPS file, all in Arabic and English, live in weeks, for a monthly cost the owner can justify. That is a different project from a 300-user rollout, and it should be priced and run differently.

We implement small-business ERP on Zoho, usually Books plus Inventory plus CRM or the whole of Zoho One, because it is fast, cloud-hosted and priced per user or per employee, and on Odoo for small manufacturers, retailers and distributors whose operations need more depth. ERPNext suits small businesses that want to avoid licence cost altogether and are comfortable with a partner-managed open-source system. We scope in a call, quote a fixed price and go live in four to eight weeks.

The scope is deliberately small: the apps that carry the business, configured around how it actually works, with data migrated from Excel or the old package and the owner trained on the dashboard. Growth is handled by adding apps later, not by buying them upfront.

Licences are per user or per employee on published prices; implementation is a fixed price after a scoping call, typically a fraction of an enterprise project. See ERP pricing for the cost lines.
