Odoo Migration and Version Upgrade in Qatar

Two different projects with the same discipline: moving your business onto Odoo from another system, or moving your Odoo from an old version to a current one. Both are data and customisation problems first, and we treat them that way.

  • Migration from Tally, QuickBooks, Sage, SAP Business One, Zoho, Dynamics or a custom ERP
  • Upgrades from older Odoo versions with customisations reviewed and adapted
  • Data cleaned, de-duplicated and reconciled to a signed trial balance
  • Parallel run and cut-over planned around month-end and payroll

Moving to Odoo, or moving Odoo forward

Migration into Odoo usually comes from an accounting package the business has outgrown, a legacy ERP that is expensive to keep, or a Zoho setup that needs deeper manufacturing or inventory. The work is the same in each case: extract, assess the quality, agree mapping and de-duplication rules, load into a staging Odoo, reconcile counts and balances, and cut over with a short freeze. We do it for Accounting, Inventory, Manufacturing, HR and CRM data.

Upgrades are a different problem. An Odoo system that is several versions behind is usually stuck because of customisations nobody documented. We inventory the customisations, classify each as keep, replace with standard, or drop, adapt the ones that stay, migrate the database through the required versions, and test every business process before go-live. The result is a current version you can keep upgrading. Our customisation practice does the adaptation work.

For migrations between other platforms, see ERP migration services, and for the checklist we use, the ERP data migration checklist.

What we hear before a migration or upgrade

“We are on an Odoo version that is no longer supported”

Security updates stopped, and every partner says the customisations make an upgrade impossible.

“Our old ERP costs more to keep than to replace”

Licence renewals, a server nobody maintains, and a vendor that answers slowly.

“The last migration lost history”

Only balances came across, so customer and supplier questions about last year go unanswered.

“We cannot stop trading”

Cut-over has to fit around month-end, payroll, deliveries and Ramadan.

What we migrate and upgrade

Master data

Customers, suppliers, items, employees and price lists, de-duplicated and bilingual.

Open documents and balances

Open invoices, bills, orders and opening balances reconciled to a signed trial balance.

History

Closed documents, stock moves and deals migrated where the source allows and the business needs them.

Customisations

Inventoried, classified and adapted for the target version, or replaced with standard features.

Integrations

Re-pointed and re-tested against the new system or version.

Reports and layouts

Bilingual documents and management reports rebuilt where the version changed them.

Sources and paths

From accounting packages

Tally, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero and desktop packages into Odoo Accounting with reconciled balances.

From legacy ERPs

SAP Business One, Dynamics, Oracle and custom ERPs through database extracts and mapping.

From Zoho or ERPNext

When the business needs Odoo's depth; data mapped app by app.

Odoo version upgrades

From older versions to the current release, customisations and data intact.

Hosting moves

Between Odoo Online, Odoo.sh and self-hosted in Qatar.

Validation

Counts, balances and process tests signed off with your team before cut-over.

The Qatar specifics

Bilingual master data

Arabic and English names preserved, transliteration issues resolved before load.

VAT and e-invoicing continuity

Tax settings and e-invoicing configuration verified on the new system before the first live invoice.

Cut-over timing

Planned around month-end, payroll, Ramadan and Eid.

Data handled carefully

Extracts secured, access limited, interim files deleted after sign-off.

How the engagement runs

Each stage has a real duration against it, so you can plan around it.

Cut over

Final delta, sign-off, go-live and support through the first close.

What it costs

We do not publish a price, because the honest answer depends on scope. What we can publish is exactly what you will be paying for, and which part usually gets forgotten.

Why businesses pick us

Partner on four platforms, not one

We are a Zoho, Odoo, ERPNext and ManageEngine partner and also implement Salesforce. If Odoo is the wrong fit for the problem you described, we will say so before you buy licences rather than after.

Arabic and English in one system

Interface, documents and reports in both, which matters when the team works in Arabic and management reads reports in English.

Configured for Qatari practice

Invoicing workflows configurable around GTA e-invoicing, VAT treatment set at entry, and payroll outputs shaped for WPS and GRSIA.

We stay after go-live

The first month-end close surfaces everything the scoping missed. Most of the real value of an implementation is delivered in those weeks.

A team in Doha, not a ticket queue

Consultants you can meet, in your timezone and your working week, who scoped the project and then configured it.

We will tell you not to buy

If the problem is your data or your process rather than your software, a new licence will not fix it. We say that early.

Organisations we have worked with

A selection of the organisations we have delivered ERP and business software work for, across finance, healthcare, trading, logistics and professional services.

Questions before you book

Yes. We inventory the customisations, decide with you which to keep, replace or drop, adapt the ones that stay, migrate the database and test every process before go-live.

Yes. Legacy ERPs are migrated through database extracts and documented mapping, with balances reconciled and history migrated where needed.

Not if the source can export it and you need it. We agree the history scope up front, typically two to three years of closed documents plus full master data.

A lightly customised system upgrades in three to five weeks; heavily customised systems take longer because of adaptation and testing.

No. The migration or upgrade runs in staging while you keep working. Cut-over needs a short freeze, usually over a weekend.

Yes, subject to Odoo's export provisions for your plan. We plan the move, migrate the database and re-test integrations.
